Pub
1. Commonly used shorthand for "Public House". Pubs are non-membership bars serving all sorts of alcoholic beverages.
2. A meeting place where people attempt to obtain advanced states of mental incompetance by the repeated consumption of fermented vegetables.
3. Another word word for pubic hair, or pube.
Pub Cricket
The act of going on a pub crawl with your (male) friends, and actively bumping into women's breasts without getting caught. Each time a player succesfully touches a breast they get one run, if they manage to touch both of them they get a four, and if they successfully manage to bag the nicest pair in the pub, they get a six. Players are out if they are slapped or otherwise rumbled, and can no longer "bat".
Pub Lust
What happens when two drunk people catch each others eye in a Bar, Pub or Club, instantly fall in lust, start snogging, groping each other etc. for the duration.
They have both become victims of 'Pub Lust'.
The downside of this is when they either wake up the next day or meet up afterwards when they're both stone cold sober and realise that there is absolutely no attraction or chemistry between the two of them what so ever.
Pub Quiz Question
A (usually) mundane and useless piece of knowledge, or field of expertise, that comes into profound effect as the one question you can answer at a pub/supper quiz.
It has also been known to be used as an excuse for quiz players with poor general knowledge.
Pub Rock
A rock movement that originated around Essex in England, from which many excellent performers got their start. The pub rock movement was a creative outburst that grew in reaction to the staid, creative wasteland of progressive pop culture, with its lengthy guitar/drum solos and tired drug culture/hippie imagery. It brought rock and roll back to having fun, yet didn't contain the pretentiousness of the later punk rock movmenet. Joe Strummer, Graham Parker, Wreckless Eric, Brinsley Schwarz, Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Elvis Costello and others all came out of the "pub rock" scene, some redefining themselves later for commercial reasons or due to artistic growth.
Pub Tan
The reddish glow that emminates from people who drink for most of their waking hours. It often appears on the nose and spreads to the cheeks.
"Have you seen Dave's pub tan now?"
"Yes he's been pissed constantly for 3 months- think he's gonna get pub stroke"
Pub Trawl
Similar to a pub crawl, it's a planned gathering to visit multiple bars in the same evening. In a "trawl", however, the group grows larger throughout the evening as other bar goers follow along to subsequent destinations.
"Where's our next stop?"
"Finn McCool's."
"Is everyone ready?"
"And then some. That bachelorette party is coming with."
"Good catch. Let the pub trawl continue!"
Running Pub Crawl
An epic event in which teams of athletes race through a city on foot, stopping at predetermined bars to drink predetermined amounts of alcohol, with penalties for puking such as liquor shots or fast food eating. The first team to finish their alcohol at the last bar wins.
Hurry up and drink! You can puke outside if you have to, but we have to get going because the other team is 30 seconds behind us! We don't want to lose the running pub crawl!
Trainwreck
1. A person or situation that can't escape an inevitable bad outcome; hence, a trainwreck.
"The woman can't ever get a good man, a good job, or education. Her life sucks. She is a trainwreck!"
2. a nonrhythmic pattern during a DJ set in which two tracks' beats fall out of sync during a mix. A sound similar to shoes in the dryer.
